Our Mission
Welcome to our little museum, dedicated to the Red Lake Gold Rush of the 1930s and the fascinating characters who experienced it. We are a group of volunteers working to preserve the rich oral history of this era. However, "work" hardly captures what we do; we're having a great time. Most of our visitors are locals who bring their families, care for the site, and share their own stories and photographs.

Our Exhibits
Each summer we gather photos and exhibits for the museum. We try to change them twice a year. Each exhibit follows a theme. Sometimes about a mine, sometimes about a person or a site.
We don't advertise individual themes because we want you to be surprised when you visit.

West Red Lake Tour
Saturday, August 1, 2026 noon till 4 pm
We are planning a second tour of the west end of Red Lake.
We have picked 4 sites where experts will be on hand to tell stories. We are hoping to add some music and a few more activities on that day. These locations have no docks so be prepared to pull up on shore or view from the water.
The museum has a small dock and dock hands will be there to help you land or anchor and get a ride to the dock.
Check out the pamphlet for details.

Building a Museum
Our little museum is staying true to the original plan. Moving the building and making it a museum was done with enthusiasum and skill. Today, there is still no funding, no budget, just volunteers. The list of helpers include a multitude of locals, including those who visit. They clean up, sweep the floor, mow the lawn and contribute photos.
